The Healing Power of the Ocean 🌊

We all know Summer is my fave... and swims at the beach fill my life with so much joy. 
 
I've also been tuning in to how I feel before and after an ocean swim, and honestly, I think I've found the answer to overwhelm. After my daily (sometimes twice daily!) swim I feel like my whole world is reset and that I can tackle the things that were feeling too big before.

Does this happen to you too?
I've actually been doing some research into how the ocean is so powerfully healing and this is what I've discovered:
 
🌊 Sea water is rich in negative ions that help to shut down your stress responses within minutes. Your heart rate changes, your muscles unlock, your breath deepens without effort.
 
🌊 Salt minerals (like magnesium + potassium) found in sea water pull emotional tension out of the body.
 
🌊 The ocean forces your bran into a "blue-mind" state. Scientists call it the neurological opposite of burnout. The sound of the waves, the movement of water and visual horizon is the perfect formula to shut off over-thinking.
 
🌊 Sea water boosts oxytocin - the feminine hormone of connection. A raise in oxytocin levels increases trust, warmth, intuition and emotional clarity.
 
🌊 The ocean restores your sense of scale. Standing in front of something so vast recalibrates your mind. It shrinks anxiety, expands perspective and you stop obsessing over small problems.
Pretty amazing, right??! I can hand-on-heart resonate with each of the points above. It's nature's medicine waiting for you to freely partake.
If you're looking for a way to lift your mood, decrease your stress and reset your nervous system - try ocean swims! I have NEVER regretted a chance to swim in the ocean. Even if I've had to force myself down there, I'm always much happier when it's over.
